Arusha

Day  1:           Arrival Tanzania to Hostel or hotel B/B. There are a number of Catholic and Lutheran Hostels in the Moshi/Arusha area that may be able to accommodate groups depending on size.

 

Day  2:           Visit churches in Arusha region including the oldest Church in Arusha, St Thereza Catholic church. Your group will have a chance to attend an early morning service and tour the church. A  priest or church leader will give a full history about the Catholic church in Arusha region. Visit Bishop’s residential place, and other churches in the city etc. B/B

 

Day  3.    On this day we will travel to Maasailand to visit Catholic or Lutheran churches and schools that serve the Maasai. These will include visits to the towns of Monduli and Longido.

 

Day  4.    Today you will travel to the Kilimanjaro region and visit the oldest standing Catholic church in Tanzania, Kibosho Parish, build more than 100 years ago. Your group will be able to meet the church father in charge and tour the church and grounds. Evening overnight Uhuru Hostel H/B.

Day  5.    This day will include a visit to Kilema Catholic church in Marangu village (also on the slopes of Kilimanjaro). It is also one of the oldest parishes in Tanzania. This visit will include a tour of various projects run  by the church and Sister House. overnight in Marangu H/B.

 

Day  6.    On this day you continue to visit several other Roman Catholic Churches in Marangu, Rombo as well as other church projects. Views of the mountain may be possible if it is not overcast.  Overnight in Marangu H/B

Day  7:  This day you will visit  Uru Catholic Church and Uru Secondary School and dispensary.  overnight Uhuru hostel H/B.

Arusha

Day  8:           This day you will return from the Kilimanjaro region to the Arusha region and visit Akari Lutheran Church and the graves of some of the first missionaries in Northern Tanzania. There will also be time to visit the nearby Mangalia waterfalls,  and meet some community groups in the surrounding village. Dinner and overnight Tengeru (local food) H/B.

 

Day  9:           This day you will visit a local womens group, herbalist, schools, market, orphanage and coffee farm. Details of available activities are here  H/B.

 

Short Safari in National Parks

Day 10:  Tour of Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park with overnight at Kiboko Bush Camp F/B.

Day 11:  Visit to Ngorongoro Crater with overnight Kiboko Bush Camp F/B.

Churches in Tanzania must be built to a large scale to accomodate all the worshippers

 

Day 12:  Visit the famous Mto wa Mbu Open Market on the way from Kiboko Bush Camp back to Arusha.

 

Day 13:  Day of leisure or shopping in Arusha – Evening transfer to the Airport for departure

This tour can include a 30 person bus to accommodate large groups. 12 nights accommodation including the first and last night at Arusha dinner/Breakfast H/B, 4 wheel drive cars during a safari tour. Airport transfers and park entrance fees during the safari tour are also included.

Day  4:           Beach transfer to the Airport to Dar – catch international flight.

 

This add-on visit to Zanzibar includes domestic flight, accommodation in stone town and at beach resort.
